Graphik Montparnasse
An "arty" tour around Graphik Montparnasse
Contrary to the somewhat outdated postcard of a bohemian Montparnasse born in the Roaring Twenties, the Graphik Montparnasse is the ideal starting point to discover the current face of the district, off the beaten track.
An invitation to explore the Montparnasse district from a new angle:
much more modern and daring.

While Alberto Giacometti is of course one of the artists who made the Montparnasse district famous, we cannot recommend enough that you visit this private mansion where he lived and worked and where he developed a plastic language that radically changed modern sculpture.
The Institut Giacometti now houses the world's largest collection of Alberto Giacometti's work, bringing together sculptures, drawings, paintings, photographs and objects by the artist. The genesis of the artist's work can be seen in his studio, where every element (furniture, painted walls, personal objects and unpublished works) has been carefully preserved by Annette Giacometti.Institut Giacometti, 5 rue Victor Schoelcher - 75014 Paris

Located in Paris since 1994, in a building designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel, the Fondation Cartier offers a programme of resolutely original and multidisciplinary contemporary art exhibitions, with surprising encounters between artists, scientists, philosophers, musicians and architects.
A gourmet break after your visit? La Closerie des Lilas
On your way out, don't hesitate to walk to the Closerie des Lilas to have lunch or dinner in the mythical brasserie that was Hemingway's, Fitzgerald's or Samuel Beckett's HQ during the Roaring Twenties.

The Montparnasse Tower
If you think that the Montparnasse Tower is not as good as the Eiffel Tower, it's because you've never been on its lift, which propels you in only 38 seconds to a height of 210 metres to discover a breathtaking view of the roofs of Paris and all its monuments, not forgetting our beloved Eiffel Tower!
A cool break? The Rooftop of the Montparnasse Tower houses the Brasserie Fondamentale.

Vasarely's Frescoes
A symbol of the district's renewal in the 1960s and 1970s, the Gare Montparnasse is home to two monumental frescos created in 1971 by the father of Op Art, Victor Vasarely.
These two frescoes, 32 metres long and 6 metres high, are part of Vasarely's series of "architectural integrations". Exploring the optical effects of frames or kaleidoscopes, they illustrate the artist's search for a unity of art and architecture.
Today, Vasarely's legacy can be found in some of JR's collages, or in the street art frescoes on Boulevard Vincent Auriol (Nationale metro), a sort of open-air street art museum that more than justifies a diversion to the 13th arrondissement. Our favourite? The "Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité" by the American artist Shepard Fairey. A real masterpiece.Gare Montparnasse : 17 Bd de Vaugirard, 75015 Paris
